New Cosmetic Trend Emerging At Spas

Resort spas, such as Skana the Spa at Turning Stone, have opted to add dermatology treatments to their guest services. Skana has teamed up with Dermatology
Associates of Central New York to provide non-surgical skin procedures such as peels, fillers, Botox and hair removal.

Karen Watson, Skana Spa manager, said Non-surgical professional skincare procedures are the next step for our guests who visit Skana Spa for a total spa
experience. Our new dermatology services are administered by highly trained physicians in the safe and nurturing environment of Skana Spa.

Dr. Amin Fazeli and Dr. Robert Loss are two of the physician from the Dermatology Associates. Both are Harvard-trained and specialize in skin, nail and hair
treatments.

While the addition of dermatology services is a convenience to spa guest, it is advisable for those guests to educate themselves on what they should expect
from a professional skin treatment. Skana is on the right track by requiring physicians to personally administer the services.

Be sure to ask who will be administering the treatments as well as the level of training they have. Doctors or physician assistants should do injections,
while the requirements for individuals performing laser treatments are often much lower. This is one of the reasons there have been so many reports of people
being burned by laser treatments.

The sanitation and cleanliness is also vital whenever you are getting skin treatments. Ask to tour the facilities and if you notice untidy conditions, you
can be sure the place is not suitable for your skin therapy.
